Donald Trump served as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021. Since it is election season again we would like to highlight some of the accomplishments of his presidency, he achieved a number of things, including:
- Appointing three conservative justices to the Supreme Court, which shifted the balance of the court to the right.
- Signing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which reduced taxes for businesses and individuals.
- Withdrawing the United States from the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement.
- Imposing tariffs on goods from China, which led to a trade war between the two countries.
- Moving the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
- Renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
- Killing Iranian general Qasem Soleimani in a drone strike.
- Approving the release of three American prisoners from North Korea.
- Overseeing the killing of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
Trump’s presidency was also marked by controversy, including his impeachment by the House of Representatives in 2019 for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. He was acquitted by the Senate. Please note that the Rocky Mountain Dispatch does not endorse any presidential candidate.
Trump’s legacy is likely to be debated for years to come. Some argue that he was a successful president who made America great again, while others believe that he was a divisive figure who damaged the country.
