Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is seeking public input on a series of proposed changes that could reshape how commercial activities are conducted on its properties. The agency is proposing to standardize fees, streamline administrative processes, and update regulations for commercial agreements and permits on state wildlife areas and state parks.
The proposed changes aim to create a more consistent and transparent framework for commercial activities across all CPW properties. This would include standardizing fee structures and forms for permits and agreements, simplifying the process for businesses and organizations. Additionally, the agency seeks to align its regulations and policies with its merged structure, further clarifying the rules governing commercial use.
CPW is encouraging all stakeholders to participate in the public feedback process. An informational virtual meeting will be held on Monday, May 20th at 6 p.m. MT, where participants can learn more about the proposed changes and ask questions. Additionally, the Engage CPW webpage offers a platform for individuals to review the proposed changes and submit their comments.
The public feedback period will close on June 3rd, after which CPW staff will finalize the proposed changes for consideration by the Parks and Wildlife Commission later this year. Any comments submitted after June 3rd should be directed to the Parks and Wildlife Commission.
If approved, these changes would take effect on January 1st, 2025, potentially impacting various commercial activities on CPW properties, including guided tours, special events, and filming permits. This initiative underscores CPW’s commitment to balancing the preservation of Colorado’s natural resources with the needs of commercial enterprises that contribute to the state’s economy and recreational opportunities.
