For the 12th consecutive year, NASA has been named the Best Place to Work in the Federal Government among large agencies, according to the Partnership for Public Service’s annual rankings. This prestigious title reflects the agency’s unique blend of innovative work, groundbreaking discoveries, and a supportive work environment.
NASA Administrator Bill Nelson attributed the continued success to the exceptional talent within the agency, calling the workforce “wizards” who embody the pioneer spirit of exploration. “Through space exploration, advances in aviation, groundbreaking science, new technologies, and more, the team at NASA do what is hard to achieve what is great,” said Nelson.
In 2023, NASA achieved several significant milestones, including breaking the American record for the longest astronaut spaceflight, announcing the Artemis II crew, and celebrating a year of scientific discoveries from the James Webb Space Telescope. The agency also launched the Deep Space Optical Communications experiment, partnered on the sustainable flight demonstration later designated as X-66, and successfully collected an asteroid sample with the OSIRIS-REx mission.
Closer to home, NASA focused on climate research by launching the U.S. Greenhouse Gas Center and Earth Information Center. Additionally, the agency gathered new data on Earth’s surface water through the SWOT mission and collected air quality data through the TEMPO mission.
The Partnership for Public Service’s Best Places to Work rankings, compiled since 2003, analyze federal employee opinions on various factors, including leadership, work-life balance, and overall job satisfaction. The rankings are based on a comprehensive formula that evaluates employee responses to a federal survey, with agencies categorized by size.
NASA’s consistent recognition as a top employer reflects its commitment to fostering a positive and stimulating work environment that empowers its employees to reach for the stars, both literally and figuratively. With a strong focus on innovation and exploration, NASA continues to inspire the world and push the boundaries of human knowledge.
