The Colorado Buffaloes suffered another gut-punch loss Saturday night, falling 35–21 to the TCU Horned Frogs after squandering a 14-point lead. The defeat drops Colorado to 2–4 overall and 0–3 in Big 12 play, raising serious questions about the team’s trajectory in a competitive conference.
First-Half Promise, Second-Half Collapse
Quarterback Kaidon Salter led the Buffaloes to a strong start, rushing for a touchdown and connecting twice with Omarion Miller to build a 14–0 lead midway through the second quarter. But three costly interceptions — including one at the goal line just before halftime — shifted momentum sharply in TCU’s favor.
Horned Frogs quarterback Josh Hoover responded with five total touchdowns, including four through the air and one on the ground. His fourth-quarter performance sealed the comeback, with two late scoring drives that left Colorado’s defense scrambling.
Big 12 Standings: Colorado Near the Bottom
With the loss, Colorado remains winless in conference play and now ranks near the bottom of the Big 12.
| Team | Overall Record | Conference Record |
| Iowa State | 5–1 | 2–1 |
| TCU | 4–1 | 1–1 |
| BYU | 4–2 | 2–1 |
| Kansas State | 2–4 | 1–2 |
| Colorado | 2–4 | 0–3 |
The Buffaloes were 7–2 in Big 12 play last season, narrowly missing the championship game. This year, they’ve already matched that loss total just six weeks in. Turnovers, defensive breakdowns, and missed red-zone opportunities have plagued the team, despite flashes of talent from Salter and Miller.
Looking Ahead
Colorado returns to Boulder next Saturday to host No. 14 Iowa State, a team riding a three-game win streak. With bowl eligibility slipping further out of reach, Coach Deion Sanders faces a critical stretch to rally his squad and salvage the season.
